On 22nd January 2009, Canadian Professor Claudia Malacrida visited CHANGE.

Claudia is a researcher who works at the Sociology Department at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada.

working with parents with learning disabilities

Claudia works with Canadian parents who have learning disabilities and wanted to meet parents with learning disabilities in the UK. We found out parents in the UK and Canada share many of the same problems.

living nearby to a supportive family

There is a scheme in Alberta where parents with learning disabilities live with their children next door to a volunteer family.

get support from extended family

This way, parents with disabilities have a family life and get support from the nearby family.
