The Equality and Human Rights Commission want to know what they should do to support people to use the law to get their human rights.


They will support people to have equal rights under 7 main headings:

1    Disability

2    Gender (male or female)

3    Race

4    Religion or belief

5    Age (young or old)

6    Sexuality (being gay, straight, lesbian or bisexual)

7     Transgender (a man becoming woman or a woman becoming a man)

Disability includes people with learning disabilities. At CHANGE we are worried that people with learning disabilities may have their issues overlooked by being in this group.

Our staff with learning disabilities go to many disability events and often find that their needs have been forgotten.

We think that people with learning disabilities
need to be given their own heading:

8    Learning Disability

This way people will be reminded to think about the rights of people with learning disabilities.
