A project CHANGE developed with Headliners (a national young people’s reporting organisation) was a great success! |
Young People at CHANGE spent 3 days creating a news report about how sex education should be available to people with learning disabilities. |
After deciding what to include in the report the group were responsible for:
• delivering interviews |
• And presenting the report. |
Headliners journalist George Gisborne said: “I was very impressed by how professional the group at CHANGE were this week. The topic is really interesting.” |
One person interviewed by the group was Stacey Atkinson MBE, a trainer of learning disability nurses. When asked for her thoughts about sex education for young people with learning disabilities she said “everyone has the right to good sex education, including people with learning disabilities.” |
One of the group said – “Headliners is a good organisation to work with. Headliners should work with CHANGE again in the future.” |
The finished report will be shown to health professionals to show the importance of making sexual health information available to young people with learning disabilities. |
