Need to know cancer treatments We need to know what to look out for if something is wrong. We need to know about different treatments and what we might need if we are dying.
CHANGE are making Cancer information accessible CHANGE has set up the Cancer project to make accessible information for people with learning disabilities who are affected by cancer and to guide them through difficult issues.
People with learning disabilities will look at what accessible information is already available and where the gaps are. People with learning disabilities will look at what accessible information is already available and where the gaps are.
Helping healthcare workers and carers to communicate with people with learning disabilities We will talk to healthcare workers and carers to find out what issues they need support with. We will offer guidance and support on how to communicate better with people with learning disabilities.
Cancer groups for people with learning disabilities We are also setting up three groups (in Leeds, Bristol and London) for people with learning disabilities who have had cancer. There will be groups for friends and carers, too.
CHANGE working in partnership This is a brand new area of work at CHANGE, funded by the Department of Health. We are working in partnership with Respond and with the National Palliative Care Network for People with Learning Disabilities.
