The campaign started because people with learning disabilities should have equal rights to be parents, but often have their children taken away unfairly by social services. |

‘Fighting for Our Children’ is what parents with learning disabilities wanted to call the campaign. |
| Parents with learning disabilities are helping CHANGE to do three things as part of this campaign: | |

1. Make accessible information on how to look after children |

CHANGE has made some accessible books and leaflets for parents with learning disabilities about how to look after children. |

We have also made an accessible version of the Supporting Parents with Learning Disabilities – Good Practice Guidance. This shows people how to support parents with learning disabilities. It is free of charge and available to everyone. |

2. Campaign for changes in the law that would better support parents with learning disabilities |

3. Train parents with learning disabilities on how to change attitudes towards them |

We have developed ‘Parents Training for Change’ – a two part training course for parents with learning disabilities to become trainers and then train professional people and students on how to work better with parents with learning disabilities. |
